§  Reasoning of record

OpenClaw is the fastest-growing open-source AI project in the public record: 247,000 GitHub stars accrued in sixty days. Its naming chain — Clawdbot → Moltbot → OpenClaw — progressively strips biology from the word until only the branding is left. “Claw” is taken as shorthand for power. “Moult” is discarded.

The actual lobster is in retreat. The Gulf of Maine, the American lobster’s anchor population, is warming 99% faster than the rest of the world’s oceans. The catch is migrating north. The species is not yet IUCN-listed, but its regional population trajectory is the form the ledger records. The base rate (Cloud / AI Compute, 2.0%) records the downstream datacentre load the project drives; the namesake surcharge (+0.5%) records the taking of the name.

§  Calculation

BioDebt = £500,000,000 × (2.0 % + 0.5 % × 1) = £12,500,000 / yr
Revenue input is illustrative; OpenClaw is open-source, so “revenue” here is a proxy for downstream commercial value unlocked. NameCount = 1 (Claw).
